And wild.
by Valerie Dray
It was drizzling outside. I opened the back of my Hasselblad and slightly exposed the film to burn it a little.
I keep running into this photograph, and each time I do, it immediately brings me back to that day in New York. I was working on a new set of portraits for GQ and I remember having Mike Townsend – his roommate, first spotted in this wild parties : here.
It was drizzling outside, I opened the back of my Hasselblad to slightly expose the film to burn it a little. Meanwhile, we talked about Cities we like, vintage cameras – smell of the rain on a hot sidewalk, rooftop view with it’s green scaffolding and his cigaret. I don’t smoke anymore, but this day I thing I smoked again. We wanted to have a bike ride all the way across Washington bridge but for some reason, we never did.
New York is about that -a ballroom, a dance : your last tango, and men or women you don’t really know.
This was a year ago, or so – in Nolita.
I miss it.
